Kanchenjunga Trekking a remotely located trekking, which goes through the off-the-beaten trail in the Kanchenjunga National Park. It is a restricted area trekking that requires a special trekking permit. Kanchenjunga trek includes a long itinerary and the trail is adventurous. It is highly suitable for the high adventure lovers to walk through the isolated trail enjoying the Himalayan panoramas and biological diversity.

The primary attraction of the trek to Kanchenjunga base camp is Mt. Kanchenjunga. It is the third highest peak in the world and people regard it as the queen of the mountains. It has got five beautiful summits. Kanchenjunga trek begins from Suketar, after the Himalayan flight from Kathmandu and connecting flights from Biratnagar. The trek then goes through the ethnic settlements of eastern Nepal, including Rai, Limbu and Magar. Heading ahead, you follow the glacial Rivers as Tamur and Ghunsa. The breathtaking mountains start to appear. The higher you walk, the more isolated region it begins. This alpine region is less known to the people. The snowy peaks as Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Makalu (8201m) and Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Jannu, the Twin etc and below dominate the skyline. It is awe-inspiring sceneries. Various high passes make the trek more adventurous. They include Sinion La (4440m), Mirgin La (4480m) and Sinelapche Bhanjyang (4646m). The traverse is challenging that adds up to surprising landscape. Kanchenjunga has got two base camps: Pangpema (5065m) is the north face base camp and the other is south face base camp.

During the trek to Kanchenjunga base camp, you can explore diverse species of flora and fauna. Birds like as Impedance Pheasant, Red –Billed Blue Magpie, Shy Dragon, Amphibian and Mammals are found in this region and preserved, including Snow-leopard, Himalayan Black Bear, Musk Deer, Red Panda etc.

Day 08: Yamphudin to Omje Khola – 5 Hours

Day 10: Tortogn to Tseram (3736m) – 6 Hours

Day 11: Rest Day at Tseram – 5 hours

Day 12: Tseram to Ramche (4290m)–5Hours

Day 13: Ramche to Yalung Glacier and KBC and back to Ramche– 8 Hours

Day 14: Ramche to Torontam via Tseram – 5 Hours

Day 15: Torontam to Yamphudin – 6 Hours

Day 16: Yamphudin to Ponphe – 6 Hours

Day 17: Ponphe to Pha Khola–6 Hours

Day 18: Pha Khola to Suketar – 4 Hours

Day 19: Fly back to Biratnagar and to Kathmandu

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

There will be a warm welcome to you on Nepal after landing your flight at TIA. Representative of Shiva Excursion Pvt. Ltd. will there for your arrival. He/she will shift you toward your place of accommodation. After having rest for some time there will a brief description of the upcoming program with your guide.

Day 02: Full Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley

Our today’s day is spent by sightseeing all around Kathmandu Valley. Having a breakfast we will visit Pashupatinath (regarded as the holiest temple of Lord Shiva). Next will be Bauddhanath (Little Tibet). Then Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) is our next destination.  Lastly we will drive to Kathmandu (Basantpur) Durbar Square. It will end our Kathmandu tour we will return back & make preparation for our trekking.

Day 03: Fly to Biratnagar and to Suketar – 3 Hours

We will take early morning flight to Biratnagar. Making preparation of our trek we will again take a flight to Suketar. During our both period of flight we will be pleased with beautiful scene of mountain ranges & dense forests. Having a safe landing we will shift our self in a hotel for our night.

Day 04: Suketar to Tabawa (1988m) – 4 Hours

From Suketar we will start our real trekking to Kanchenjunja Base Camp. With our breakfast we will walk to Tabawa. It is situated at north of Taplejung. Hiking up to south base camp we reach dense forest. Passing through grassy meadows & small teashops we will reach to Tabawa for our night.

Day 05: Tabawa to Khesewa (1920m) – 5 Hours

Waking up early morning we will start our journey to Khesewa. We will pass through Phawa village. Crossing suspension bridge of Pawa Khola we reach forest & narrow terraced land. Our walk will offer us magnificent views of Kanchenjunga Glacier & summit of Yalung Kang (8505 m). It will be so much impressive.

Day 06: Khesewa to Mamankhe (1854m) – 6 Hours

Today we walk to Mamankhe. Descending down to Kabeli Khola, we resume our journey. Passing through dense forest we will cross small stream. We will be offered with view of giant Himalayan ranges with culture of local Limbu, Rai and Magar community’s people. It will be so much enjoyable.

Day 07: Mamankhe to Yamphudin (1706m) – 6 Hours

Having a delicious breakfast we will move to Yamphudin. Zigzag road is our main walking track. A great ridge behind Kabeli Khola is very beautiful. It is our main attraction of today’s walk. Following main trail of stone steps, finally we reach Yamphudin for dpending our night at tented camp.

Day 08: Yamphudin to Omje Khola – 5 Hours

Our today’s destination is Omje Khola. We will walk on road of village. We will pass through agricultural terraces & beautiful grazing meadows. We will be gifted with spectacular views of mountains & our surrounding is so much interesting. Crossing Omje Khola we reach at Omje village for our night.

Day 09: Omje Khola to Tortogn (2870m) – 6 Hours

Tortogn is our today’s destination. Forest & grassy meadows is our main walking trial. Walking continuously we will reach Deurali Danda (3292 m). Resting for some moments, we descend down through forest of rhododendron. We will have memorable view of great Jannu and Kanchenjunga.

Day 10: Tortogn to Tseram (3736m) – 6 Hours

Early morning having breakfast we resume our journey to Tserm. We will be walking on attractive valley of Lalung. It will be so much impressive for us. Passing through pine and rhododendron forests, we can enjoy superb view of Yalung Glacier. In this way we reach Tseram for our night.

Day 11: Rest Day at Tseram – 5 hours

Today, is rest taking day, after walking continuously for many days. We will not just rest; we will spend our whole day by visiting around Tseram. Yalung Glacier and Talung, Rathong and Kabru (peaks) will be so much impressive. Exploring settlements around Tseram, we will return back to our camp for our night.

Day 12: Tseram to Ramche (4290m) – 5 Hours

With a nice accumulation at Tseram, we will be crossing Steep road of moraine slop block to reach our destination Ramche. It will be mesmerizing trek on beautiful valley. We need to walk continuously through beautiful grazing meadows. Walking whole day in a difficult path we will lastly be at Ramche for our night.

Day 13: Ramche to Yalung Glacier and KBC and back to Ramche – 8 Hours

Today is the main day of our whole trekking. As we will reach on Kanchenjunga base camp and we will return back. It will be tough walking on uphill trail. It is long day trekking so we need to start earlier. Climbing to Yalung we reach Lapsang La Pass (5932 m) and bottom end of Yalung Glacier. Hiking up to Kanchenjunga base camp, we spend our sometime and we again return back to Ramche.

Day 14: Ramche to Torontam via Tseram – 5 Hours

Achieving our dream it’s time to return back. We will return back to Torontam viewing Tseram. Firstly we will hike to Tseram. From here we will be gifted with memorable view of view of Mera Peak (highest peak of Kanchenjunga). Walking through forest of blue pine & rhododendron, we reach Torontam for our night.

Day 15: Torontam to Yamphudin – 6 Hours

From Torontam we continue our walk to Yamphudin. It is walking on downhill track. We can encounter porters & Yaks passing through forests & sloppy path. Viewing this we hike to small village of Gurung, Limbu and Rai community people.  It is known as Yamphudin where we stay our night. 

Day 16: Yamphudin to Ponphe – 6 Hours

From Yamphudin, our next destination is Ponphe. We will pass Kabeli Khola. After crossing the bridge of Kabeli Khola we will enter into the forest and descend downhill via sloppy terrace on the way. Then we will reach Poinphe where we will spend our night.

Day 17: Ponphe to Pha Khola – 6 Hours.

Resuming our journey, we walk to Pha Khola. Walking on downhill track for few hours, we reach Pun and Kesewa village in our way. It will be amazing for us. Lastly walking for 5 to 6 hours we reach Pha Lhola to spend our night. In this locality we can see inhabitant Gurung community people.

Day 18: Pha Khola to Suketar – 4 Hours

Our today’s walk will be the last walk of our trekking. We will walk through the main track of Suketar. We will be walking on flat & downhill trial. It will be very easy in our returning journey. On reaching Suketar we will make confirmation of our tomorrow’s flight to Kathmandu and rest remaining time.

Day 19: Fly back to Biratnagar and to Kathmandu

We will take early morning flight to Biratnagar. Making preparation of our trek we will again take a flight to Kathmandu. During our both period of flight we will be pleased with beautiful scene of mountain ranges & dense forests. On reaching Kathmandu we will be shifted to our hotel and have a good rest on remaining time.

Day 20: Farewell

Spending a rest night at Kathmandu, it’s a time for returning back to your home land. There will be a small farewell program for you. You will be guided all the things of returning journey by our team for your departure. Hope you will be back to Nepal to visit the remaining side of beautiful Nepal.
